We are Alexandra and Ioan, part-time travelers and first-time vloggers, exploring the world’s largest cities.
We’re (almost) 40-somethings Romanians, living in Bucharest – one of the nicest, and often overlooked cities in Europe. We both work our corporate 8-5 jobs and our goal is to travel as far and as often as possible.
This is our first endeavor in vlogging. We’re still learning. We’re camera shy. We’re not used to being watched online. But we’re working on it and we hope our content’ quality will improve over time, as we’re learning from enjoying other travelers content.
We’ve fallen in love with the world’s big cities since our first trip abroad, in Hong Kong, some 10 years back, and we’ve been exploring new destinations ever since. We’ve visited 50 countries (and counting) since, and each visit left us wanting more.
We’re both aviation geeks, of sorts. We’re at home while transiting the world’s largest aviation hubs, and we have a working knowledge (although it usually goes unused 🙂 ) of most aircraft seats currently in deployment with the world’s airliners.
Our journeys are through the world’s mega cities. From the vibrant streets of Hong Kong to the historical landmarks of Rome. We’re usually right there, in the middle of it. This is the reasoning behind our vlog’s name – The Tarmac Nomads. We’re at home in the streets of Singapore, in the outskirts of Bangkok, and in the boroughs of New York.
Our content is not topical and we’re hoping it will capture our ‘vibe’ as we’re experiencing these metropolises for the first time – or rediscovering our love for places we’ve visited many, many times before – such as Hong Kong 🙂
Our YouTube channel captures the pulse of each city as we explore local cultures, meet the people, and share our unique experiences. Whether you’re a fellow traveler seeking inspiration or someone curious about life in these urban jungles, our content should be a good starting point.
We’re avid followers of some of the travel vloggers, and content creators that do things differently. We’re constantly churning through the videos of Ken Abroad, One Pack Wanderers, Retired Working For You or Paddy Doyle.
